1066 - What a Riot! King Trembles as Guests Riot

The Conqueror William the First was crowned at Westminster Abbey on the 25th December 1066. About 945 years ago!

Inside the nobles hurrahed in French and English. Hearing this the riff raff followers outside jumped to the wrong conclusion 'french/anglo-saxon trechery' They roared 'Merde/Shit' and set to - firing buildings.

The nobles rushed outside - one half doused the flames the others looted!

Inside William trembled!

It's true check it out!

10th August

I'm sorry for the people who have suffered emotionally, financially and practically from the social disturbance this week.

I work hard and can tell right from wrong. My life's a struggle - practically - and I find it difficult to sustain hope that the future will enable my children to have their 'share' in life's material riches.

Do you remember the scene in Wuthering Heights when Healthcliffe and Catherine have their noses pressed to the Linton's window looking in at the safe, secure, comfortable world within? Well I feel that people are surrounded by fabricated images made up to show fictitious people and families having a great life.

Screens at home, on the tubes, in the post office, everywhere show happy well dressed people, in happy families surrounded by desirable goodies.

No wonder that young people from the underclass grab what they want. The smart phone and their ability to use it has given them a temporary advantage over the establishment. They have shown that they are capable of organising and working together. They don't know the old chant 'organise, occupy kick the b....s out!' but these untutored youths have given the 'gavvers' a run for them money.

I work and I have a home and hot meals and talk to my kids and parents and read books. I'm fortunate - the same screens that show images of material consumption show truly awful images of the starving - helpless ones of the earth.

Our global society is a terrifying place and the gulf of understanding between the have's and have nots - and the tightness of understanding between other groups who share rigid beliefs and understandings casts odd - menacing shadows. The challenge is for people of good faith who understand the value of sharing and fairness to step back and reflect.

I'm glad to be alive and glad to have a mind and glad to have the freedom to express what I believe and my perspective.
